Negative Aspects Regarding the Ductile Seismic Design Concept of the Pure Moment Resisting (MR) Reinforced Concrete (RC) Frame Systems (A Theoretical Study)

Abstract Seismic activity in the last two decades validate urgent improvement requirement of ductile seismic design concept for MR RC frame structures. This necesity comes from unfavorable recorded response structures required to on-site actions. The same observations and conclusions (regarding soft storey ( G round F loor (GF) or C urrent (CF)) mechanism development energy dissipation process columns marginal zones) were registered analytical research experimental studies on platforms. fragile rupture vertical structural elements produces segmentation superstructure into rigid segment portions.
